Ryan has been a highly praised talent for a long period of time, and enjoyed a very successful stint for Club Brugge in Belgium. Ryan has won the award for Belgium Pro League Goalkeeper of the Year for two consecutive seasons, and it was this impressive form that has got him the move to Valencia.
Ryan confirmed the transfer on the Club Brugge official website, "If I pass my medical tests, I will indeed leave Club Brugge." However despite his joy at a move to a bigger side, he also expressed his sadness and gratitude for all that Brugge have done for him, "I've had a wonderful time at the club but now it's time to take this next step...I'm very grateful that Club gave me this chance in Europe."
While the move to Valencia is a big step for Ryan he faces stiff competition for the starting spot. Current Valencia 'keeper, Diego Alves, is a Brazilian international and will be determined to keep the Australian number one confined to the bench.
For those who are not familiar with Ryan, below is a highlight package showcasing why Valencia have signed him.
