Ins: Falcao (loan), Begovic (£8m), Nathan (£4.5m)
Outs: Felipe Luis (£15), Cech (£11m)
I don’t think Mourinho has done enough in the transfer window to improve his first team… yet. Many would question whether it needs improving, but the players who he has brought in will only serve their purpose should someone get injured, as opposed to City, United and Arsenal who will be able to interchange their players without a noticeable difference (e.g the difference between Falcao and Costa is bigger than that of Delph and Fernando)
Hazard & Costa will be relied upon heavily, but they can’t do it all again and will need a bigger contribution from players like Willian, Oscar & Cuadrado if they want to retain the title. At some point Mourinho will be giving Kurt Zouma some game time with Terry the last member of Chelsea’s famous old guard left, which may show some cracks in Chelsea's defence.
Fabregas will have a big role to play again in proceedings, providing the creativity through the middle, paired with the steel of Nemanja Matic. Chelsea back four picks itself, but now with the sale of Felipe Luis, they look a little light in the full-back positions.
