Ins: Depay (£30m), Schweinsteiger (£11m), Schneiderlin (£25m), Darmian (£12m), Romero (free)
Outs: Van Persie (£4m)
Van Gaal’s inability (or refusal, whichever way you want to look at it) to buy a central defender could cost the Premier League giants a real shot at the title for the second year in a row. With only Jones, Evans, Smalling and Rojo as the only recognised CB’s, and the injury troublers they all carry, the Dutchman may run out of options again.
He has made some good signings however, particularly central midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin who can replace Michael Carrick in the long-term. Memphis Depay looks like he has come out to replace the outgoing Di Maria who looks certain to sign for PSG in the coming days.Despite looking strong in attacking midfield United look light up top once again with the departures of Van Persie and Falcao. They welcome back Javier Hernandez however only he and Rooney are not enough to push City and Chelsea for the top two spots. United look resigned to losing De Gea after snapping up Argentine no.1 Romero after his contract ran out at Sampdoria. The Spanish stopper only has a year left on his contract and Van Gaal faces the dilemma of selling him now for £20m or losing him for nothing next season
