Despite the 0-0 scoreline it was an exciting encounter between Arsenal and Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium. Ultimately the draw is a good result for Liverpool who will take anything they can get from a tough stretch of away matches to start the season. So which players impressed the most for Liverpool? Here is how I saw the match:

Simon Mignolet: 7 - It was a pretty solid performance by the Belgian. He made some good stops throughout the second-half to deny Olivier Giroud, Aaron Ramsey, and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain. However there is still room for improvement when the ball is in the air as he looked nervy from a few late crosses and corners.

Nathaniel Clyne: 8 - A very, very good performance from the former Southampton right-back. He worked tirelessly up and down the pitch, looking extremely solid defensively but still offered something going forward. Would arguably be leading Liverpool's Player of the Year already with three good performances.

Martin Skrtel: 8 - With not a lot to do in the first-half Skrtel did his job with minimal fuss. However he improved as the game went on and when the match was deep into the second-half he was performing brilliantly. He was vocal with teammates, winning aerial duels, and making pivotal clearances.

Dejan Lovren: 7 - A good performance for Lovren as he continues to look like the player he was at Southampton two seasons ago. While not as involved in the match as his defensive partner, Skrtel, Lovren was still solid throughout and covered well for his fellow defenders.

Joe Gomez: 8 - A very impressive performance from the 18-year old Gomez. He was not intimidated by the big names in the Arsenal squad and was arguably man of the match for Liverpool. Is playing with the composure of a seasoned veteran and will only continue to improve.

Lucas: 7 - Possibly the last performance for Lucas as a Liverpool player but he performed his job well. He offered a defensive solidity to a team that has often looked vulnerable and his ball retention was impressive against a high-pressing Arsenal team.

James Milner: 7 - Just another solid performance by Liverpool's stand-in skipper. Covered an enormous amount of distance and showed glimpses of real quality with some impressive passing. Continues to make the Liverpool midfield look more solid than last season.

Emre Can: 7 - Like his fellow midfielders Can was solid throughout the match. Worked extremely hard defensively and offensively, providing some pace and power from deep. Did appear to fatigue as the match went on but could have scored the winner if Alberto Moreno had spotted his run late into the second-half.

Philippe Coutinho: 7.5 - A frustrating night for the diminutive Brazilian. Was denied by Petr Cech and the post when on another night he could have scored both. Looked a constant threat as he continues his evolution into Liverpool's main man.

Roberto Firmino: 6.5 - In his first start for Liverpool Firmino put in a no-fuss performance. Showed brief examples of his quality with some good touches and worked hard for the team.

Christian Benteke: 7 - Another decent outing for Benteke in his third Liverpool appearance. Was a monster physically and caused Arsenal's central defensive pair of Gabrial and Calum Chambers all kinds of problems. Should have buried the chance that Petr Cech saved but other than that he put in a good shift.

Jordan Ibe: 5 - Ibe did not impress when he came on. After some very good performances last season it appears he is struggling to reproduce that early on in the 2015/16 campaign. Is static in his movement and is inconsistent with his touches and decision-making, still very raw.

Jordan Rossiter: 6 - Came on in a high-pressure situation and handled himself rather well. Has to keep playing to adjust to the pace and tempo of the EPL but showed good signings.

Alberto Moreno: 6 - Difficult to judge a six minute cameo but showed pace and power to go on a blistering run towards the end of the match. Should have spotted Can's run in the middle and played the pass but nevertheless showed good attacking intent.
