Manchester United put in arguably their best performance of the season as they travelled to Goodison Park and beat Everton 3-0. It was a strong return to form for the Red Devils after they were humbled by Arsenal prior to the international break.
David De Gea: 8 - Was tested physically early with some aerial balls and looked slightly nervy. However he was back to his best in the 2nd half with some fabulous saves from Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku efforts. Will be delighted with the clean-sheet.
Matteo Darmian: 7 - Was one of the worst performers against Arsenal so he had to respond. Looked much more like the Darmian from the first few matches this season. Handled everything that came down his side relatively well.
Phil Jones: 7 - Selected to start over Daley Blind and performed well. Was solid and no-nonsense in his defending and looks like he will be hard to displace.
Chris Smalling: 9 - Imperious. The best defender on the pitch by some margin. Handled to strength and pace of Lukaku brilliantly, not giving him an inch. Got an assist for United's opening goal with a nice chest-down. Continues to raise his game.
Bastian Schweinsteiger: 7 - Was his usual self in possession. Was given far too much space by the Everton midfield and he controlled the match with his clever movement and passing.
Morgan Schneiderlin: 8 - His best performance for United thus far. Along with Schweinsteiger he protected the defence well, but he also showed his attacking quality with a nice finish for the first goal. His energy makes him almost a must-starter alongside one of the two elder statesmen.
Ander Herrera: 9 - A masterful performance by the Spaniard as he made a great case for himself to be a certain started in Van Gaal's XI. A brilliant run from deep saw him head home Martial's cross, and he set-up Rooney's goal too. Was at his pass-and-move best as he ensured great rotation in possession.
Anthony Martial: 7 - Looked a little unfamiliar with the left wing role but improved as the match went on. Showed some flashes of his talent with some explosive dribbles past Seamus Coleman. Was probably unlucky not to score in the end.
Wayne Rooney: 7 - A mixed performance from Rooney. He scored a goal which may give him a boost in confidence, but he was careless in possession at times. Still some concerning signs.
Jesse Lingard: 7 - A decent 45 minute cameo for Lingard. Lacked some composure in certain situations but provided more than Mata did in the 1st half.
Michael Carrick: 6 - Came on for Schweinsteiger and continued where the German had left off.
Marouane Fellaini: N/A - Only had ten minutes on the pitch and didn't do enough to be rated.
