Chelsea have recorded a loss of £23.1m over the 2014-2015 financial year. The previous year, Chelsea profited £18.4m. This means that the club is confident that they will be able to maintain within UEFA’s financial fair play guidelines.
This decline can be contributed to the fact the club was knocked out of the Champions League in the first knockout round, as opposed to the semi-finals in the previous year.
Chelsea has previous performed extremely well financially, particularly with their player sales.
Chelsea has sold key players just in order to balance their cheque book. Most notably were the sales of Juan Mata, Romelu Lukaku and David Luiz.
