Following Chelsea’s decision to sack Jose Mourinho, many names have been thrown around for The Special One’s replacement.
The most common name is that of Guus Hiddink who already had a spell at the Blues as an interim manager. The main reason for Mourinho‚Äôs departure was the ‚Äėpalpable discord‚Äô between him and the players. Hiddink is a very player focused manager who is hands on. This means that this problem would seemingly be solved as he is quite good at building a relationship with his players.
Former Chelsea striker, Meteja Kezman states that Hiddink already has the job, stating that ‚ÄúI don‚Äôt know if it‚Äôs officially confirmed yet, but Hiddink just told me he was the new coach‚ÄĚ.
While it seems that Hiddink will almost defiantly take the role, news earlier this week of Pep Guardiola’s desire to move from Bayern Munich may toss a potential spanner in the works.
An ideal situation for the Blues will be for Hiddink to fill in for the rest of the season, before Guardiola taking the reins from next season.
