A 2-1 loss to Norwich has left Manchester United fans furious. Manager Louis van Gaal is now under serious pressure to keep his job after the loss saw the Red Devils fall out of the top four.
After being 2-0 down early in the second-half Anthony Martial managed to pull one back for the hosts. However, the goal from the Frenchman was the only time United could breach the Norwich goal.
David de Gea: 5 - Showed some good distribution but will be disappointed with the way he conceded the first. Went down a little too early and saw the shot go over his head.
Ashley Young: 5 - Was part of an entire defensive failure. Crossing was erratic all game, with some good and bad balls, and his defending was suspect for Norwich's second. Did provide the ball which set-up Martial's finish.
Phil Jones: 5 - Started promisingly but was all at sea for Norwich's goals. Perhaps a simple lack of match fitness saw him put in a sub-standard performance. Was not helped by van Gaal's midfield tactics however.
Chris Smalling: 5 - Showed some rustiness by not being 100% on his game. Appeared to be slow in reading the play and at times made the wrong decision. Pushed forward late in search of a goal and was a nuisance.
Daley Blind: 4 - Moved to left-back and struggled with Nathan Redmond's pace. Showed a lack of fight to chase back on numerous counter-attacks and looked lost whenever the opposition ran at him.
Michael Carrick: 5.5 - Was essentially asked by van Gaal to be a one man midfield and struggled accordingly. Showed his quality by playing some nice passes but looked shaky when pressured by Norwich. Did battle hard in what was a lost cause in midfield.
Maroaune Fellaini: 4 - Was pushed too far forward by van Gaal which left Michael Carrick isolated. Was unable to be the same menace he was against Bournemouth in the attacking half. Was replaced by Ander Herrera.
Memphis Depay: 6 - One of United's better players. Showed good attacking intent and could have scored if not for some good Norwich last-ditch defending.
Juan Mata: 5 - Did appear to be working harder than the last few games, but still struggled to impose himself. Retained possession quite well but ultimately failed to create anything meaningful.
Anthony Martial: 7 - The shining light for United in a poor performance. Showed some good touches and close control, and eventually scored the Red Devils' only goal. A tidy bit of skill was capped off with a shot that he blasted into the roof of the net.
Wayne Rooney: 5 - Worked hard and tried to be involved but, like Mata, could not impose himself. Once again showed that he is not the player he once was and is becoming a big problem for United.
Ander Herrera: 5 - Received a massive ovation when he entered the game but was largely anonymous. After a long lay-off it was not overly surprising though.
